Flycatcher back in May

In retrieving a flycatcher photo from earlier in the year I realized that I'm still not sure of
what I'm looking at. I'm guessing an Eastern Wood Pewee, but I've not much experience with
identifying flycatchers. If I've been asking for a lot of help lately it's because I need supervision.
I might stumble into a heretical conclusion when it comes to species ID that some might find offensive.

If these are two views of the same bird, you can see why id from photos alone can be treacherous especially during migration. The first photo (on my screen) looks very yellow under the chin and the second not yellow at all!

I only id flycatchers by song, which limits me to Phoebes and Pewees. Sorry I can't help with a photo id.

Good point. How you can even keep the call firmly implanted in your memory has always amazed me.
It was not singing/calling at the time. I believe both shots were taken on the same day and in the same
general area of Ashbridges Bay spit, but the two shots may be of different birds.
