We live in the Bathurst/Finch area. Yesterday, I was looking out of our condo window. I was watching our local Red-tailed Hawk hunting. It started to drop out of the sky, with talons extended. A pigeon saw it coming and maneuvered quickly out of the way. The hawk gave chase, but the pigeon escaped. The hawk flew around the side of our building and flushed another pigeon. The chase with this bird went back and forth before our windows. I don't know if the second pigeon escaped, but it was exciting to watch. I was impressed with how fast the pigeons were flying. Watching the hawk hunting so close to me was incredible. I marvelled at its power and determination to capture its prey.
