Long-tailed Jaeger

Now this is something of a rarity to see a Long-tailed Jaeger in this part of the country. And even more rare is seeing one with a piece of bread in its beak. This is a fierce Arctic and marine predator and not known for grabbing hand-outs from people feeding gulls on Van Wagner's beach in Hamilton. Ridiculous, isn't it? Still a thrill to see this life bird in its full glory. These photos are taken today, Aug 8, 2018. It seems to like this area and may still stick around for few days.

Great pictures! Saw it today too, new for Ontario for me.
Jaegers (Long-tailed, Parasitic and Pomarine) are regular at Van Wagners Beach area in Hamilton and are seen every fall, but it's rare to have one as cooperative as this one. They usually stay way out over the lake.
