Most mornings a blue jay or two will arrive in the backyard and sit on the arbour waiting for peanuts
in the shell. Sometimes it (they) call to get my attention. Sometimes they just sit patiently knowing
what's coming. Recently I heard a faint call. Sure enough, there was a jay sitting there. Sitting beside
the jay was a squirrel. They were both sitting patiently facing the sliding glass door. I threw out some
peanuts before realizing I should have taken a photo. I'm musing on their mutual communication.
"Nice day, hey"
"Ya. How long have you been waiting?"
"Not long"
"I guess the jays finally won one ... against the Yankees"

A few years ago, we had a blue jay learn from watching the squirrels.  The squirrels would tap on the glass of our back door to get our attention for the peanuts.  One blue jay then started to tap on the glass also instead of just calling.  Clever birds.

That is quite something, I will start to give them peanuts! The blue jays who visited will dig out my plants.

Haha - that's a typical Squirrel traits, Jays are definitely learning from them.

I noticed something else, it's the newest pot gets the attention. It happened to the two most recent pots I added to my patio table.  It got dug or I found it falling to its side. Maybe they can tell which one is new and was curious.
