A Calliope Hummingbird made a wrong turn somewhere and ended up in a backyard feeder in Goderich, Ontario. The homeowner has graciously opened the backyard for general public for a week and today, Nov 25 was the last day to avail the opportunity. A friend of mine and I made the 450km trip today. at 200km/g, gram for gram, this must the longest trip I made to see a bird in Ontario. But it was worth it. What the future holds for the bird is anybody's guess. Anyway, here's a comparison shot of a Ruby-throated Hummingbird (on the left) , taken in Rosetta McClain garden in August of 2017 and the Calliope taken today in Goderich, Ontario. Apart from the smaller size, peachy coloration in the flank and under the body, the Calliope doesn't have white tail tips like the Ruby-throated does. The second picture shows a little bit of magenta coloration on the throat of the Calliope.

Lovely shots Dino.  I had considered going there was well but I didn't want to travel that far today.

I like to get out for a walk with camera in tow and I might even travel a few kilometers if I think there
is something interesting to see, but your ability to trek is inspiring. Your determination to capture what
has been sighted, no matter where, teaches us all that results require dedication. If it's out there I'm sure
you will find it and then bring it home for the rest of us to marvel over. Kind of makes getting up in the
morning worth it. Thanks for sharing.
