Golden Eagles

My first sighting of a Golden Eagle was in 2015 in Canadian Raptor Conservancy in Port Dover, Ontario. The mighty bird was tied down by a rope as a captive bird; it never made my life list. Since then I always wanted to see one in the wild. That wish came to fruition finally on Feb 19, 2019. The day before, I read an eBird report from one of the contributors of this site - Thomas (Thouc). The following day I set out for a three hour long drive to north west of Newbury, close to Sarnia in search of this elusive bird. After driving around for a while I finally got to see a juvenile Golden Eagle in the air together with a juvenile Bald Eagle. Shortly afterwards I got to see an adult flying overhead. Amazing sight. By the way the Eagles are still being seen in and around the location where Thouc reported on the 18th and I saw them the following day.

Way to go Dinu! A three hour high-speed trek with the intrepid optimism to expect to actually find these
magnificent birds based only on a previous sighting. Did you win free gas for life?
I think what you need next is a small plane and a pilot's license. Imagine the possibilities.
You would become unstoppable. Then again, maybe you have already achieved that distinction.

Nice catch   I am terrible at finding birds following others instructions. That's why I missed the blue grosbeak in High Park, and still haven't seen the barred owl in Halls Rd despite I went twice.

Haha, no I haven't earned free gas for life; however I do drive a hybrid that provides me a bit of relief. Yes, there's always possibility of finding nothing after such a long drive; however, the added advantage is that I get to see part of Ontario that I wouldn't have seen otherwise. Plus I get to meet many like minded people in these excursions.

Well, you aren't alone in that regard. Last time I was there was on Dec 10 and the owl didn't show up during my entire stay. However, I heard Great Horned Owl from the woods; that might have kept the Barred owl quiet.
