On Saturday morning at the entrance to Thickon's Woods in Whitby I saw a Baltimore Oriole robbing a Spider's nest for an easy meal, a daylight robbery if you ask me. Someone had half of an orange setup for the Orioles; however, this particular Oriole ignored the orange over a protein diet. This is the second time I have noticed a Baltimore Oriole taking advantage of bugs trapped in a spider's nest. There were live bugs everywhere; however, nothing beats sitting in one place and plucking food from Spidey's food store. Needless to say that Spidey was nowhere to be seen, he was smart enough to know what the outcome would be of a confrontation with an Oriole.

Clearly, the loaded buffet is an offer an Oriole can't refuse.
Taking advantage of easy street extends to all species.
Thanks for the info regarding cuckoo sightings. I never actually
expected to see one due to its shy nature and skulking behavior.
