Now that summer has officially arrived, we're into dragonfly season again. Here's a photo of a Swamp Darner, one of our largest Odonata, seen on the Leslie Street Spit yesterday, along the trail that leads to Peninsula A. I can't get over those eyes. The Triangle Pond and the Goldfish Pond were also productive.

Nice find. Never saw one of those while sober.
Are those clown eyes meant to mesmerize predators or does Mother-nature have
a sense of humour? They do see more wavelengths of light that we do with their
huge compound eyes.
