Sweet capture. Nice detail and soft colour.
I heard from someone, perhaps from you that Wolfe Island is
mostly private property and that there are few roads. Is
that correct? How do you get around there if everything
is private property?

There are lots of roads to drive around all over the island. The private property is all the farmland; fields and fenced areas that are owned by people living their. The reason for letting visitors know is mainly in the winter when travellers head over to photograph Snowy Owls that are often off the main roads somewhat and for the visitors not to go past the fences etc even if no signs are post not to. Overall it is a fine place to spend a day during the winter. This sandhill is right along side of 2nd line which runs right next to the lake so no issue here for this one. Here is a snowy owl that I got today which was taken from the side of the road.

I saw 5 others but you would need a 500 or 600mm lense to photograph them.

Thanks for your feedback regarding Wolfe Island.
I figured that I better check a satellite view of the island to
see if there are roads and not rely on members of this
forum to edify me. You're quite right, there are a few roads
and I easily located #2 that hugs the shoreline as you outlined.
Man, I would love to explore the place, but then again, right now
I'm quite primed to be satisfied to explore just about any place that
gets me outta here. That's not going to happen though so thanks
for bringing a Wolfe Island find to my screen. There are so few
postings on the forum at this time of year that a surprise near-approach
broadside of a bird that I've never seen in the wild is a real treat.

Wonderful photo of the crane. How about the Gyrfalcon in the Island? Did you manage to see it?
