This butterfly has been a nemesis of mine for several years. After hearing reports of sightings in several Toronto parks this spring, I decided to check out the Glendon Forest Trail yesterday, where these tortoiseshells have been reported in the past. I walked all the way out and all the way back and only saw one butterfly, but it turned out to be the Compton. A fairly cooperative specimen at that.
