He was not being mean, just caught him in the middle of chewing. Very cautious, on the edge of fleeing at all times.

Well they can be quite vicious and their bite packs a punch but...given the number of people that go out of their way to run them over around here, I'm with on the groundhog side.

There are people who hunt them -- apparently it's an open season. Hunters -- some drive up from the city -- go around to farms and ask the farmers for permission to set up and hunt in their fields...they shoot them....collect them for a count and dispose of them...that's it....Killing for the thrill of the kill...

Shubnecadie NS has a prognosticating groundhog...Shubnecadie Sam....Shubnecadie was one of the tragic locations of that evil little man.

I love seeing my first of spring...or watching a group of them in a field.
