It is far more likely to be a Hermit Thrush. Veery thrush, Wood thrush, Swainson's thrush
arrive soon but I think it is still too early for them. You said "no specks" when describing
the bird's tail and back, or did you mean a breast without streaks? A Hermit definitely
has streaking on the chest. A Brown Thrasher is also ruddy-brown and arrives early but
it also has prominent streaks on its breast. It is also slightly bigger and sleek and elongated.
