I am TERRIBLE at it...I've got blue jays, mourning doves, red tailed hawks, crows and robins (turdus migratorius) down cold (except when the jays get cheeky and give RTH calls) but I hear so many other songs that I just can't place. And when I get out the guide, it gives these unimaginable phonetics to songs....anyway there is one song I have been trying to place for years....to me it sounds like a real sing song "yoo-hoo".....any suggestions of songs that I can look up to see if it matches?

The Cornell site has recordings of songs with each species.  https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/search

So I'm going to "OUT myself now.....

Napper discreetly sent me a pm rather than exposing me publicly....he suggested that I google black capped chickadee calls....turns out they have a number of different calls that I never associated with them including my "yoo-hoo"....makes sense now..we have tons of chickadees around..they're tiny so I could never see the singer when I looked high up into the canopy...

Thanks Napper!

In my defence...I'm not the smartest kid my mama raised....my sister got all the brains.

Now on to my next round of call ID's lol...it never stops.
