thought i'd post this morning's pictures.
Had great luck at the Spit. 3 scarlet tanager and an overly cooperative Blackburnian (my 2 favourite spring birds!). Also was shown where a Tennessee warbler was and it was also very cooperative.
Enjoy

Excellent perch-bound captures in good light. I wanted to go out to a local place
this morning but that never happened.

Excellent set of images. I also dropped by the park shortly after 8:30. I went straight to Pipit Point hoping that yesterday's Yellow-breasted Chat would linger an extra day - of course it didn't. However, saw a few shorebirds and assortment of warblers. On the way back I noticed how crowded the park became in few hours that I was there - everybody was out to enjoy the new-found freedom.

i was lucky 3ish years ago when the chat spent the day at Ashbridges and gave spectacular views. too much to see in the wet woods to take the hike to P Point.
i went early to beat out the rain and birders. i left at 10 because it was not crowded but there were a few birders that clearly did not respect or understand social distancing. like, don't stand in the middle of a path with your 2 friends so people can't comfortable get by. or giving someone 2 ft of space to walk by instead of stepping into the clearing behind you? not cool.
originally, i was just not going to go today due to the likely presence of dummies. next day i'll go will be a weekday.

It is nice to see that the wet woods at the split was alive yesterday.  I had been going down there since late last week without much success.

Steven Hood not having much success?
That must be wrong ... written by an imposter.
The Steven Hood I have come to admire does NOT settle for anything less than total success.
Alas, if there is nothing in the park then there is nothing to photograph, even for an Olympian.

Shortsighted, I could definitely share with everyone the frustrating birding season before Saturday.  I would think this has been the slowest start to any birding season in at least the past 10 years.  Hopefully we will have more opportunities this week for those that are able to get out.

this is a face i haven't seen in a lot of years. hope all is well.
the Spit was really dead and disappointing up until 2 days ago. you're absolutely correct. heard Ashbridges had more action, but you can't park there (if i'm biking, i go to ashbridges, if i'm driving, i go to the Spit)

I have been somewhat limited in my May birding last year and the year before due to work.  I was able to get out every morning last week at the split but found it quite frustrating.  It looks like the Warblers are still enjoying the Poplar trees.
