Sometimes mourning doves can be fun, if you are trying to catch them full wing. and they are always on the verge of a sweet smile. This one went for a drink, then started to walk around the edge of the drinking bowl, after mooned me fully, finally jumped in.

All the while you got to see a king bird trying to rescue a fledgling with his crown showing from no less than, A BALD EAGLE... I don't know where to begin with my envy and of course heartfelt admiration.

Haha, some of us are very envious about your backyard and the trail that you regularly take hike on. You are one up when it comes to Olive-sided Flycatcher - I am still waiting to see one. I know your hope is to see that reddish crown on a Kingbird - I guess you have to see a raptor flying close to its territory. Here are two photos of an Osprey at the receiving end of a Kingbird's wrath - they are not called Kingbird for nothing.

Thanks for sharing those wonderful pics. Now at least I know what scenarios to look for. The day before yesterday I heard some arguments on the other side of the valley, saw blue jays, grackles, black birds, and a kingbird. Didn't find any sizable predator, so I don't know what are they pretesting about.

@ Ally....fab pix...ahh...enjoyed them....I love when I can recognize the discreet birds like the female RBG...that's not a mooning....more like a "Kiss my tail feathers"

@dinusaur ... holy crap....you get the most amazing pix....that was FABULOUS.
