A few weeks ago I spotted a Brown Thrasher on the sidewalk and it flew across the
street into the woodlot upon my approach. Today I spotted one right next to the road
in the narrow strip of grass twixt curb and woods. Later on spotted it again and figured
maybe I should take my camera along on the next walk. Sure enough it appeared again.
I took a shot from the opposite side of the street knowing that too much movement on
my part would likely make it quit the scene. Besides, I could not leave my father at his
walker to stalk a thrasher.

How close did you want to get, you seemed to be right next to him!! Such wonderful shots of a rare bird, rare for me any way.

I was on the other side of the street, which is not close enough for 200mm.
The shot is cropped and that reduces detail ... too few pixels on the subject.
With your 600mm lens the shot would be very detailed indeed. 3 x the power
equals 9x the pixels. Makes my head explode.
