Barrow's Goldeneye among Common Goldeneye. From Rideau River in Ottawa. Lifer for me.

7th from the right? You need such sharp eye sight to see the subtle difference.

Yep, slightly larger, different shape on the white face spot, slightly different head shape, black line going down between chest and wing, dark back with line of white spots.


The females are even trickier...
