Two New Western Visitors

It is crazy to have two new visitors from western part of the continent showing up in relative close distance from where I live. But I am not complaining - after all, these two became my two latest life birds. First is an adult female Rufous Hummingbird that has been frequenting someone's backyard feeder in Oakville for a while. One of the prominent birders in GTA, Mr. Glenn Coady worked with the homeowner and arranged daily controlled visitations. On Saturday morning before I came to know of the arrangement a friend of mine and I set out to see the Harris's Sparrow in Hamilton. Three hours of waiting in cold produced nothing. So we headed back and made a stop over in Oakville to see the Hummingbird. Apparently by the end of the day 100 other visitors showed up to see it. Three years ago when a Calliope Hummingbird showed up in Goderich similar arrangement was made to the benefits the birders. In case you are wondering, Harris's Sparrow did show up after 12:30 to delight of the others who chose to stay behind.

The second visitor is a juvenile Golden-crowned Sparrow in the allotment garden just of Rosetta McClain Gardens in Toronto. I dropped by on Sunday afternoon and in the middle of a slight drizzle I got to see the bird. People are leaving seeds for it, so it will likely continue for a while there. Thanks for posting photos. I was hoping that you would. What allotment garden are you referring to? The RMG property is small and I don't recall an allotment garden. There is the rose garden on the north-eastern corner. Is that what you mean? Was it in the garden area or under the big tree that skirt the private property fencing?  Promise ... no more questions because I know that you're a busy man on a mission to extend your life list. I'm only on a mission when I visit the John, although I have no such proclivity to visit the [jym]. I hope you encounter a few more rarities to share.

The allotment garden I am referring to is a small patch of garden at the north-west corner of Scarborough Heights park, along the fence line that runs parallel to Wynnview Ct. It is not inside Rosetta McClain Gardens. One has to go out to the street, walk east, cross over Wynnview Ct and the garden is to the right. Here's the coordinate:  43.698591, -79.253747
