Thanks, Thouc, for the reply. The more I look into this, nthe more I am confused. Can mallards be considered domestic duck? I mean, do people keep mallards in duck farms?

Yes Charline, a domestic duck is a Mallard, but it has become domesticated through breeding and the tell-tale signs of that is the appearance of white patches, or all white. Muscovy ducks are also in the same harbour. Evidence of red on the face indicated some Muscovy origin. Breeding of ducks is done for meat and for show. Man just can't leave things alone. Some domestic Mallard monsters are much larger than a wild Mallard. Some have been bred to swim to the left so that they swim in circles and never swim away. By the way, don't believe everything you read on this forum ... it would be so shortsighted of you.

SS, thanks for the explanation.

I still wonder if the white color could be naturally occurred.
