I was almost in tears when I missed a good shot of the first yellow rumped in my trail.

I was again in tears when I found a dozen or so flipping among the branches, I couldn't focus on just one. (I know perfectly how to get under the skin of Shortsighted :P )

Is this a female pine? Two deer avoided me promptly

Very productive day for you. I wish that I could say the same for me. If you keep at the noble pursuit you will get results. That's the way it works. I'm glad that you managed all the early warbler (Yellow-rumped, Pine and Palm). Remember to stay calm when things get a little crazy. That is not going to happen often anyway.

Again you worked magic!!

Can you please confirm whether that was a female Pine?

The beak size and shape looks like a Pine female, so does the white wing bar and the white around the upper and lower half of the eye. The breast is a little pale, ie) less yellow than might be expected. The female usually shows some yellow but not as wide-spread or as intense as seen in the breeding male of the species. A profile shot would have made it easier to identify this warbler but I agree that it is probably a Pine, especially since other species have not yet arrived.

A profile shot might help. A female Prairie warbler can look quite similar to Pine warbler.
