This juvi Redbellied was preening on the branch for a while and a Cardinal decided to land on the next branch to sing. The youngster contemplated it for a bit, and jumped.

Like so many other young punks it sometimes just sees red where ever it looks and that's quite enough to piss it off and provoke an assault. Who knows, its belligerent behaviour could stem from an underlying drinking problem. Not as problematic as those sap-sucking cousins from the other side of the tracks but enough to bring on a temper. Today's bout: "Pointy-beak vs Grosbreak" ... place your bets you degenerates. Action just follows you around, doesn't it.

They have to in order to keep me sane. I learnt mid day that had to do some work on my day off. I wanted to kick some butt myself.

Hey! That is Cool!
I had a similar situation today, Cardinal sitting at top of our dying Catalpa tree when a Hairy shows up and slowly makes it's way to the top. Then they are almost side by side. I run for camera and only the Hairy Woodpecker is there when I get back. >:(
I'll share the pic of the Hairy Later. It was not a nice day for pics today, it was cool and rained on and off all day. I still camp out on the driveway for an hour a day waiting for that Hummer pic, light permitting.

All peckers are die hards! I saw one pecking away with a red tailed hawk perched several feet up.
