I have never seen one until now. On Monday, Sept 5 I was in Valley Inn area when I noticed something like a Muskrat swimming in a creek, going from west bank to the east. I almost ignored it until I noticed that unlike a Muskrat this one has its tail above water and swimming in a doggy paddle. I kept on taking photos until the creature came to the other side, and jumped on a log. Lo and behold - it was a black squirrel. Not sure it was by choice or forced into water by some predator - but it was something unique. Birdwise, I saw a lot of shorebirds, Ospreys and Eagles besides the herons and egrets.
