I saw a large pecker when I was reading by the window, and walked out with my camera. The sunshine invited a lot of creatures. Lots of stunts, and he hid all the red to protest against his unfair name.

It's not easy when you have more than one target, the red breasted nuthatch was doing funny things at the same time. And as I thought I missed it, he went to my door, even bearing gifts. I didn't have time to slide the door shut when I walked to the yard. The white one did a new hair just like I did.

I asked one of the deer to give me his antlers when he sheds it, he waved his hand. Okay, I will ask again next time.

Your visiting RB woodpecker is actually a "she". The male has the orange-tinted red nape as well but the herald extends all the way to the tip of the bill after its crowning achievement is completed. I wish my previous visiting peckerhead would do an encore, but so far nothing since the beginning of the year.

I think that your RB nuthatch is less interested in offering you a gift than in informing you as to want kind of seed it expects to receive from you in the future. "You see, this is the kind of seed I want". Those red-breasted nuthatches are so bold and sometimes a touch belligerent when things don't go their way.

The WB nuthatch is watching the red's audacious performance on your threshold with a little chagrin and jealous irritation. It's no wonder the two species don't gravitate toward any sort of mutual cooperation or fraternity. They probably hate each others guts.

BTW, good plan to have your camera beside you while reading next to the window. It doesn't contribute to edification by text but it does reflect what's truly on your mind between those relentless sentences that barely support the weight of comprehension.
