Up until today the only sparrow that has visited the feeder was a White-throated sparrow (actually two of them) but they spent most of their time on the ground below the feeder, as previously reported. Today an American Tree sparrow showed up (just one) and this is the first time one of those has been in the backyard for about 7 - 8 years. I'll assume that it's a male bird and will therefore call him Elliot. Tree sparrow Elliot, aka T.S. Elliot was both on the feeder rail, on the ground and occasionally perched on the courtesy perch installation. I have posted a head shot under Gigapixel AI because I used the program for that close-up shot.

TS Elliot has a particularly rich chestnut-brown colour and the two-tone bill is extremely pronounced. A fine specimen!

That is very cute. I will chase you with a sparrow and some finches.

And flowers because I love them.

You certainly have a big and very elaborate feeder. It dwarfs the finches. Does it have Wi-Fi? You also have more visitors than I do. I brought in the plastic feeder this morning and washed it because it was almost empty anyway and also caked with snow and ice. After letting it dry I refilled it with mixed seed and pieces of peanuts and then hung it up again. Almost nothing visited it all day long. You would think that a dry, clean, full feeder would attract attention but apparently not around here.

That is my neighbour's. That is why I have to take photos with a a twig between me and the feeder. Well, beggers can't be choosers.

Miss the times when I was able to feed them.
