Another couple of FOY-sightings. This should really be a category. Swampy area in the Rouge was mostly quiet except for RWBBs and Grackles, but I heard a heron being belligerent and looked up to see a Green-backed heron with lofty notions. While trying to get a better look at an oriole I spooked a FOY Swamp sparrow. Looks very much like a Song sparrow but without the breast streaking. I was positioned precariously and my boots stuck in the mud and therefore my stance was none too steady, resulting in a slightly blurry image. The grass was flooded and mud everywhere, what I would call both delightful and disgusting, which are not two words I tend to use in the same sentence. Then again, I'm old enough to get away with a few things now and then.
