Don't you just hate it when you see one of those birds that looks like something you think you can recognized but ... not really. There's not even asection in the field guide for those birds. I've seen at least two juncos so far, always alone, not part of the usual group milieu. Soon though, juncos may be all we get to see. I'm finding it hard to gather the enthusiasm needed to go out when I know that sightings, let alone photographs, are not going to be very likely. All part of the late-fall funk.
