I'm standing by the window trying to decide if this is freezing rain or still in the realm of actual snow and I also notice that the birds are thinking about the same subject.

Looking out the window here at major fog which I've always been fascinated by!  A lot of snow has melted from lthe last 2 days of accumulation. It's supposed to rain this afternoon + evening and tomorrow plus be fairly "mild" out. Hopefully you see a lot more open water with ponds that you visit.   :)

Indeed, fog can be a treat for a photographer if you know where to look and keep an open mind, which is as rare as open water around here. When I saw the fog and concluded that it was sticky & stationary (SS) I knew that it was for me. There is a concession road a little north of here that passes through a depression with swampy conditions on either side. All the trees are skeletal, even in the summer. There is a sort of temporal phenomenon in this depression that even effects radio reception. Yes, I am nuts. It's probably what killed the trees. I imagine that these bare bones rising in the fog on either side of the road would make an interesting fog picture, or not. I could drive up there ... it wouldn't kill me, would it? The problem is that the roads are full of saline slush and I'm not anointing its underbelly with rust promoter just to maybe get a photo. I need the car to last many years yet not only because of the obscene cost of a newer car, but also because newer cars are jacked to the internet for everything and many don't even operate if the online systems are disabled, something which I find completely unacceptable. They have the money to install the internet of things with respect to car parts but they don't seem to have much concern for online systems security. Thankfully, physical safety standards are dependable because of mandates from the government via regulations, thanks to Ralph Nader in the 1970's.
