I went to the cemetery nearby to photograph/film the flowers.

My encore was lots of wildlife.

A little squirrel appeared to be sick. When I watched my video at home, one of its paws was bleeding or missing.

I know who did it. My video caught the offender too.

Nice work with your video essay on cherry blossoms. Good idea ... again. I was just thinking about cherry blossoms yesterday evening and assuming that the full-bloom event is probably over, not having heard anything about it one way or the other. I don't have TV anymore and CBC radio and CJRT radio wouldn't concern itself with such wonders and therefore not likely to mention it during their programming. The movement of the blossom-laden branches in the wind makes it look more interesting than a static picture, although keeping a dark background in play helps feature the subtle colours. Since some blossoms are white, or near-white, they could also look stunning in B&W with a red filter to darken the sky, or perhaps a polarizing filter at 90 degrees to the sun. The injured squirrel and RTH in association makes it seem like a nature show ... eat prey, belch. I guess that the full solar eclipse in Niagara didn't pan out as expected. Here in Pickering, the cloud cover thinned a bit just making it possible to get a glimpse of the 98% sickle. I used a welder's helmet as a filter. A bit dramatic perhaps, but it got the job done and made the neighbours shake their head, but that reaction may have been aimed more at the accompanying light sabre.

SS, thanks for your comments. I have another short clip which was shoot in front of the Ontario Legislative Building last week. There are cherry trees there too.

As to the solar eclipse, I enjoyed it on the campus of Brock University. The pity was that the sun went behind the clouds when it entered the totality. As a result, I lost the interest to make a vlog although I do offer the clips for sale through my video agencies. In the clips, the crescent sun was moving in and out of the clouds. Hopefully the buyers will find them interesting.

I lost my cell phone a few days ago. Now some Google pixel phones have the capacity of optical zoom, plus with 40-50MP size for photos and full 4k for videos. May even be better than the GoPro. I am considering it.

All I saw today was big bulky dark grey clouds, windy, chilly, rain then hail and snow at 1:30pm! The whole city looked like a white out. Then someone in the neighbourhood decided to mow their lawn.  :o  Yep, Full Moon soon!

Wow, snow?! Really?

Toronto was chilly and windy too. I went to the cemetery with a bigger telephoto lens. Yesterday, I should have carried it because a kinglet was showing it's red crest for me. Also I hope to photograph the Northern Flickers. Didn't see any of them. No hawk either.

I was worried about the little squirrel. I don't know if it could survive its injuries.  I wonder if other squirrels would bring it food. With its injured leg, can it still climb up and down the tree?  But I couldn't find the tree.

Expect some inclemency for awhile. What's the technical term? Oh ya, I remember ... lousy weather. I too wanted to try and get a much better shot of a flicker, but the wind, among other issues, deterred me from making an attempt. Someone else, who posted results on eBird, did manage a few good shots of both flickers and Hermit thrush despite the lousy weather. Someone else posted seeing four Pine warblers at Ashbridges Bay and even succeeded in getting photos of one. If one waits for clemency in the weather department one misses opportunities. I'm such a wuss! Compared to mid-winter, this set back is a walk in the park ... and yet ... here I sit ... fully deterred, disengaged, retired, ineffectual, in-the-shop and wussified, PTI (petrified to indisposition). Inertia and laziness are cruel supervisors. I bet that Pine warbler hunter is a woman, for they doth not suffer so from inertia and latent wussification.

Charline, I'm glad that you can finally wield that big telephoto lens again. Lots of money invested in something that rarely gets used. Next time I'm out and the light levels are good I'm going to try my 2x TC and manually focus and see what happens. I even considered getting a used Canon 7D MK II for under a thousand bucks because it could conceivably AF at f8, although I don't know how well, so that I wouldn't need to resort to manual focusing. Upon further consideration, I figured that I might eventually need to get a R-series camera because of its powerful IBIS and therefore spending a grand on a 7D just makes the other purchase even more difficult. I may need to debate this issue with my imaginary evil twin, who is more intense and forceful, just like Nicolas Cage's imaginary companion in An Abundance of Talent, except I'm in no danger of getting punched in the face. Not yet anyway.

Charline, you picked a good subject to exercise your arm muscles. I have never seen so many WTSs in April as I'm witnessing this year, or perhaps I'm just not remembering clearly. I believe someone tallied 40 of these sparrows during a walk through the Guild Inn grounds. To me it seemed like hundreds. The first signs of a sparrow insurrection? I realize now that I should have payed more attention to them in order to get a primo shot but I was more interested in searching for the towhee and the thrasher. Many available paths but burdened with a one-track mind, I guess. While your photo does not show the entire bird it is quite charming by virtue of its partial concealment ... very natural ... what one would recall seeing in the field. I would love to see a Vesper sparrow, Lark sparrow or Field sparrow ... all of which have been seen at Ashbridges Bay Park. Imagine seeing all three in the same frame! That would give me a heart attack. It's just too far to drive to ABB in TO traffic ... drives me crazy and sucks up too much time. When will these north winds and 40 - 50 kph gusts dissolve? Oh yes, next Sunday's forecast is 21 degrees. Even the night's low will be 14, which is a good daytime high right now. It looks like it's just the two of us posting photos now. There is no one left to view them so I wonder why I bother posting because normally I'd not be doing that sort of thing. The net is like the Wild West, with emphasis on the 'wild'. I wonder what happened to Ally. Probably busy working.

Jo-Anne and SS, again thanks for your interest in my photos. SS, I remember you said a while ago that Ally would not come here for a while. So I assumed that you knew.
