I returned to Cranberry (dried-up) marsh at 7 o'clock this morning and hunkered down twixt the beach and the puddle in order to revisit the rail and sora.  It seemed colder than yesterday because there was a wee bit a dat breeze you read about in books, enough to make some modest noise with crashing waves but not enough to call it windy, nothing like I'm being windy right now.  As before, I brought a tripod so that I could splay out its legs in an obscene manner with one leg in the puddle, including my booted feet and while ensconced on a foam mat.  That's how it started out ... just me and the breeze and another guy with faster, better, shinier glass.  Eventually there were three additional people all huddled around my favourite spot with dense reeds on one side and a sinister bush on the other side.  Visitors around the puddle included:  Virginia rail x 2, Sora x 2, Marsh wren, Swamp sparrows, White-throated sparrows, juvenile Song sparrow.  I didn't see the Harrier while I was there.  Geese flew over, swans flew over and ducks flew over.  Didn't see any snipe either, but I didn't try too hard.  There were more eyes looking onto the puddle than were foraging around the puddle.  More glass around me than I'd expect on a stroll through Tiffany's.
