Here in Western Pickering / Scarborough the temperature hit 22 degrees yesterday and the wind boasted ferocious gusts that made it unwise to spend time within a heavily wooded area, lest a massive branch should come crashing down. The general bird activity was way up yesterday. There were kinglets all around me, reminding me how difficult it is to get one in my sights. I'll definitely need some practice.
Today was a lull, as if the birds were hung-over. Hardly any sapsuckers, no phoebes, and no kinglets anywhere. Moreover, there was considerably less calling and singing going on today than yesterday. Today's NE wind may be the reason ... don't really know. I guess that I'll need to check when the next south wind is due.
