Since the Spring and throughout the summer, I had seen a mated pair of mockingbirds, in the same territory. I suspected they had nested, but had no proof. Early Saturday morning, I saw one of the adults killing a dragon fly, and then, after it had beaten the dragonfly to death on the ground, carry the insect off to a nearby tree. I could hear the chirping, and finally I was able to see 2 fledglings being fed.

A little bit further on in my walk, I also spotted a female hummingbird. I haven't seen many of these at all this summer.
