Yesterday there was an immature Green Heron in the pond on the east side of Col. Sam Smith.  As a newbie I wasn't 100% sure of my identification but luckily a more experienced birder came along and confirmed it for me.  :)    (There were quite a few ducks he was surprised to see as well, but I won't try to list all of them because I'm sure I'll get some wrong.)  I also got a nice show from a mink who was grooming himself on the rocks right there and didn't see my presence as any reason to stop.

Last week there was an immature Great Blue Heron in the same pond, hanging around on the side of the little island that faces the wooden observation deck.
