Had a fantastic look at the Egret that has been living in the west end lakeshore region ( Humber Bay Area ) at 1 pm on Sunday afternoon.  In the park at the foot of Park Lawn Road ( south of the Christie plant ) there is a white footbridge.  20 metres south of the footbridge there is a log in the water that gulls and terns like to sit on.  The Egret was walking in the water around the log for about 5 minutes, catching crayfish and small fish. Flew away when it was done.  Definately a great egret.   :D

I got to the park at aroud 8:00 pm.  I unfortunately have not had much time to be down there in the past month but that evening I was jsut itching to go.  So anyways I was biking by the laggoon area in HBPE, just east of the parking lot and right over my head flew this huge white bird.  Knowing that the only huge white bird I had ever seen in HBP was either a trumpewter or mute swan and also knowing that this thing was deffinitely not one of these birds,   You could imagine I was pretty frakin' excited.  then it landed not 15 feet away from me! it was wonderful.  i just kept thinking to myself... "a Great egret in Toronto, no freaken way man".  I had read about some on this message board a month ago but somehow I never really thought I'd see one myself in the city.  It was just amazing.  in conclusion... a darn good lifer if I could say so myself.  Glad some one else got to appreciate it aswell.

I was having lunch down by the ferry docks yesterday (June 5) and a Great Egret flew past, heading west along the shoreline.  A nice sight to see!

Another good spot is Humber River, about 500 metres north of the Old Mill bridge. Last Friday, a Great Egret and two night Herons were fishing together. The Egret has been in the area for a few years now.

Spotted this Egret a few weeks ago the HBPE. Believe it probably heads over to Lower Duck Pond at High Park. Last year, there were two Great Egrets at that pond. Also, one at Sam Smith Park in Etobicoke, but nothing so far this year.

cheers,
jim

I was driving west bound on Queensway, at 4:20 today, just east of Colborne Lodge, when I saw the GWE in a small pond  north of the roadway. This is very close to Humber Bay, as the crow flies. Same individual perhaps.

I observed the GWE sampling the fish at the base of the observation platform this morning at 9:30 A.M.
This is one of the same locations as last year's sightings.
