I blieve there is a male Harlequin in the Humber Bay mooring area. A group of birders were scanning the waters and a scan of the 'area of interest' revealed numerous longtailed ducks and a male Harlequin. If so, this is at least the third or fourth winter in a row that these ducks have come to this area.

There was a posting on Ontbirds indicating a dozen, mostly male hooded mergansers and one male harlequin. That is great news, and I can't wait to photograph them!

The male Harlequin was well offshore when we saw him this morning.  It provided great scope views, but no photo opportunities.  If it follows the pattern of past Harlequins in the area, you should check everywhere from the Humber River over to Mimico Creek.
