Christmas Robin sighting

I saw a robin on Christmas day in a neighbour's bushes, looking for food. I've never seen one in winter before - isn't this an extremely rare thing?
I had a good look at at for about a minute, so it's not a case of mistaken identity.  The location is just NE of Islington and Dundas St. W. on Robin Hood Rd.

Good spotting although seeing Robins in winter is not at all uncommon. In fact, they're known to over-winter, particularly in areas where there are good food sources.

yes yesterday with the snow melting away i had a robin visit my yard for the first time ever in the winter also had a downy cardinal and a blue jay with the juncos and doves all at once i was so surprized to see them there all at once cause theres no food out there for them i my yard

There are lots of berries still on many trees so I will likely be around for the winter.

During a recent CBC, one of the parks visited in Oakville had 200+ Robins!!!

They were literally everywhere - on the ground, flying in front of/behind/beside everyone and just about flying in our faces.     I've never seen so many Robins at one location before.  It was quite thrilling!
