Hey there Jo-Anne, glad you love the plane.  :D   It's part of the "Viper North" demonstration team - their other plane is the Mig-15 above.  They'll be appearing at air shows either later this summer or next year.  The team is based out of YYZ and the owners/pilots are 2 of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.

Napper - I was there for the morning arrivals only as I had some personal business to attend to and needed to get up to Newmarket by 8pm.  I'll be there all day Sunday as most of the aircraft will be departing from noon onwards, which always makes for some nice shots.

So which one is this. Seen from Col Sam Smith Park today. Also saw the Mig and (from your postings) L29 out over the lake.

Bigfrank,

That would be the Hamilton based Canadian Warplane Heritage's DC-3 which flew in yesterday.  It's a WWII cargo/paratrooper plane.

The Mig and L29, along with other aircraft, were doing media flights yesterday and as such were flying all around the lakefront.  I saw them out in Ajax yesterday as well from my location.

Cheers, and good photo of a classic bird.

Re: Emirates A380 ...

Today: Rwy 6 arrival - the HUGE beast floated on past my balcony and windows!!!

My mom was visiting and all of a sudden I screamed "There it is!!!" and pointed. I was jumping up and down on the balcony clapping my hands and yelling "Woo Hoo!". People walking around Lake Aquitaine here were looking up and looking around wondering who the crazy lady is.

That was awesome!!! How ironic they switched to Rwys 5 and 6 around 3:20pm. Ironic too that I couldn't go to YYZ today and then had a WAY better view from my balcony than if I'd been on Luke Road!  There would have been a lot of ticked off people on Airport Rd. today that were waiting for her to arrive on Rwy 23!    The best part about having a scanner is knowing where to go!  :D

Might go to YYZ on Wednesday to check her out.

Yippee!

Jo-Anne  :D

Hey

I spotted it at the terminal on the way by Pearson today around 4:15 pm

There be people everywhere looking at it. People on the grass berms near the perimeter fence..

Traffic was terrible. Once past the Airport it picked up again.

What time did it arrive?  I will try and find the archive feed and listen to the approach.  Liveatc

Napper:))

Second attempt with this post :?

Thanks Jo-Anne, it was the best I could do given the overcast skies.  I'm going to head back on Friday to get more shots with a hopefully bright blue sky.

Thanks Jo-Anne, I'm glad that you appreciate them.  :)   If you give me your email address I'll email you a full sized copy of it so that you can print it off for your collection.

Mathew, thanks for the kind words.  It was a hit and miss day with the sun today, hiding when the plane arrived and popping out about 10 minutes after it parked...oh well, what can you do?  :)

As for its size, yes, it is huge enough to make everyone look like this when we stopped for a second from taking pictures:

That being said, it's size is in its height and not in its length.  And with that being said, I'll always believe that the 747 is a much more attractive airframe.
