what is an ANA flight?
All Nippon Airways.  To make a long story short, Japanese tourists book 747's to come visit Ontario and see our "Fall foliage".

This year,

Flight #1:  Monday, September 20th - drops off tourists.
Flight #2:  Saturday, October 2nd - drops off new tourists, picks up tourists from Flight #1.
Flight #3:  This week - Thursday, October 14th.  To pick up tourists from Flight #2.

And then came JAL.  :D  Speaking of which, JAL (Japan Airlines) is coming in this week on Wednesday, October 13th!  She also came in back on Sunday, October 3rd and Tuesday, October 5th.

btw Axeman ... when I first created this thread, never expected it to "take off" the way it has!  (no pun intended!  ) It was great discovering fellow plane spotters and people that love birds of both the "feathered" kind and the "metal" kind!

There is certainly a full moon tonight!

1855 tonight- Go in my backyard to check something,  and hear this odd sound getting louder & louder.  "What the hell!" I almost yelled     Look up to see a CF-18 flying over my house :D   Between 1855-1910 tonight I was entertained by a Canadian Air force CF-18 "demo" in my backyard.  Speeds varying from 300-600mph, 10-12 flyovers and the grand finale was a "photo angle", as it was turning for YHM directly over my house! Great "show" , thanks CAF! :D    Was doing a Hamilton Tigercat flyover, preparing for the flyover in Grimsby.

The pilot was sure showing off it's skills! Saved the best for last :D  Stopping by at YHM tomorrow, maybe I will see it.

Good evening,

Over the past few days, there has been an airshow Convention in Las Vegas. With this convention, came news yesterday, which is good for all of us.

Remember the Blue Angels from last year's CIAS?
They'll be prefroming at the Rochester Air Show, on July 17-18 2011.

Have you ever watched either the Daytona 500 or the Superbowl, and seen the US Thunderbirds fly-past?
They'll be preforming at the Niagara Falls "Thunder over the Falls" show on September 11th/12th weekend. Note: The Airshow is located in Niagara Falls,NY  , located at the Air Force base, the 914TH Airlift Squadron.

The Snowbirds Schedule has also been released for 2011 and 2012. They, as always, will be attend the Toronto show(s).

Hi everyone.  Feeling a little wind blown at the moment!

I was at YYZ this afternoon from 2:15-3:30pm huddled up with lots of people in the Wendy's parking lot - Airport Rd.

Started out with the usual "domestic" boredom - eg. Air Canada and Westjet.

Then it was British Airways B772, reg. #G-VIIS, flight #093 AND Emirates A380, reg. #A6-EDC, flight #241.  My favourite KLM B744 "The Big Blue" went to Rwy 24.   :(

Wind gusts:  38 Knots = 70 km/hr!!!

Quite cold standing out in the open.  I should have gone for a hot chocolate.
