I just got a 3rd hand report of a ruffed grouse sitting on a back yard fence in North Toronto recently (date unknown, but within the past few days). North side of Soudan Ave between Bayview and Mt Pleasant. Anybody able to provide any supporting evidence? The observer is not exactly 'birdy' but spent decades living in the country and has lots of first hand experience with this species (back yard to dinner table!). Personally, I don't think they saw what they think they saw, but I suppose anything's possible.
