I was at Humber Bay east this week and this guy drove up in a car and asked what I thought about a skate board park at Humber Bay east. I said something about a lot of wildlife here and he drove off.  Does anybody know about why they are wasting money trying to put in a skate board park?? I had heard something about this and I thought the Friends of Sam Smith killed it for Sam Smith but what is going on with Etobicoke?? They need to look at what Mississauga did with there Skate Board  Park. Its at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga. I think they would be better putting it beside an Arena or at least near a subway stop. Does anybody know what are the other options they are looking at?? I think there would lots of arenas that would love to have the extra money at least for concessions. Don't they think about how somebody is going to get there and where they are going to park and where are they going to pee. All they want to pave over a big section of wildlife habitat. They should put it beside an arena

The chances of one at Humber East would not be good. Too many waterfront condos around.

Three years ago it was touted as a top priority for youth, but after it was decided that it shouldn't go in Sam Smith Park, it took over two years to restart the site selection process.  (I'm sure the skateboarders are happy it wasn't a low priority.)  Lura Consulting was hired to facilitate a "Community Working Group" to find a more appropriate site.  It seems like an odd semi-public process.  Lura have posted notes from the committee's first meeting on their website, but they have already had 4 or 5 meetings.  I think they were only planning 6 meetings, so the process must be just about finished.  Sam Smith Park is not being considered this time.

There is still a concrete ice skating trail planned for the park.  They want to put it north of the Power House.
