After the frenzie of spring birding its good to slow down and do a different type of birding. One that is more of observation and a lucky 'spotting'. Working in the Winston Churchill Blvd. area of S.W. Mississauga we have the fortune of having resident Kestrels, Red Tails and T.V.'s cruising the area. A pair of Kestrels nested on company property have delighted and entertained us and appear to have successfully fledged a pair of young. The 4 have been seen in the parking lot, resting on the ground after flying maneuvers, as well as on various perches practicing 'observing' and the immatures attacking ferocious butterflies and dreaded dandelions then guarding their 'kill' with cupped wings. I suspect the young will not be around long they look robust and ready to roam. Our resident rabbits hope to get their brood big enough to avoid their threatening neighbors hunting above them.

Good spotting! Never leave your bins at home.
