Hi All,

This morning I was at Rosetta McClain Gardens in Scarborough for a couple of hours and was able to come up with 25 different bird species including a few early spring arrivals.  The Red-winged Blackbirds, Blue Jays, and American Robins are back in small numbers but wonderful to see.  Other highlights included, a very vocal Carolina Wren, 6 White-winged Crossbills feeding on the ground, and a westward flyby of 16 Tundra Swans out over the lake.  Also seen today was a Mink running along the shoreline.

Here is a full list of birds seen today:

Canada Goose, Mute Swan, Trumpeter Swan, Tundra Swan, American Black Duck, Mallard, Long-tailed Duck, Bufflehead, Red-breasted Merganser, Ring-billed Gull, Rock Pigeon, Mourning Dove, Downy Woodpecker, Blue Jay, American Crow, Black-capped Chickadee, Carolina Wren, American Robin, European Starling, Dark-eyed Junco, Northern Cardinal, Red-winged Blackbird, White-winged Crossbill, American Goldfinch, & House Sparrow.

Hi All,

Today was another beautiful (but chilly) day to be out at the park.  I met with BIGFRANK and we put in a few hours of birding and came up with 30 different bird species.  Some of today's highlights included: a Cackling Goose (mixed in with some Canada Geese out in the lake), a dark morph Rough-legged Hawk (flying eastward overhead), and another flock of Tundra Swans (48 in total) that landed out in the lake to the east of us and then slowly paddled their way westward past the park.  Of yesterday's spring arrivals, only the Blue Jays were a 'no show' today.  Also seen today was a Groundhog running along the top of the Bluffs.

The following is a list of birds seen today that are different then yestesday:

House Finch, Pine Siskin, Cooper's Hawk, American Tree Sparrow, Common Crackle, Cackling Goose, Red-tailed Hawk, Rough-legged Hawk, Great Black-backed Gull, & Greater Scaup.

I went back tonight and heard your Carolina Wren!  I met Diver Dan while there but there were very few birds in the park.  I'm going to head back down there tomorrow after my 2 morning dog walks and before the Flyers game.  Priorities, you know
