I searched for Eastern Red Backed Salamanders along the Etobicoke Creek today and found about a dozen or more.
Eastern Red Backed Salamanders are such wonderful interesting animals.
How to find Eastern Red Backed Salamanders:
1. Find a young, mature, old growth forest with closed canopy with abundant debris on the ground such as logs, rocks, etc.
2. Lift up logs, rocks, etc. as Eastern Red Backed Salamanders hide under places like this to retain moisture.
3. Observe the Eastern Red Backed Salamander.  Even pick up the Eastern Red Backed Salamander if you want.
4. When finished, place the log, rock, etc. back over top of the Eastern Red Backed Salamander, or to be even safer, place the log, rock, etc. down first then put the Eastern Red Backed Salamander facing any opening and the Eastern Red Backed Salamander will crawl under.
