Three visits now, and each one has given me something new:
Saturday
My first Northern Mocking Bird to the south of the College (just over the footbridge by a path that leads up the hill to the houses). Some pictures but none worth reproducing. i saw this bird in the same place on my next two visits.
Sunday
Crossing the footbridge just to the west of HWY 27, a very nonchalant red fox came trotting down the path from the college. I got some pictures (posted in the wildlife section). Astonishingly brazen. There were lots of people walking dogs, jogging and going to and fro.
Monday
Down by the river bank to the west of the Arboretum, I flushed an American Woodcock. He took off no more than four or five feet in front of me, which was galling as I had my camera with me, but I had a good view of him as he flew up and then dove into the bushes further up river.
Much else besides in the way of Cardinals, Robins, Red wing blackbirds etc.
