Hi Folks, Took a tour around today from Point Pelee to Ojibway park in Windsor.
I had some interesting birds along the way. Near Wheatley I found some Hooded
Mergansers and then noticed in the reeds behind the mergansers a Great Egret
in the reeds.
Point Pelee had some Common Mergansers along with the usual culprits of Geese
& Swans. Out on Lake Erie there had to be about a thousand Scaup.
In the Nature Centre parking lot had a immature Bald Eagle do a fly over.
That was a nice surprise. There was reports of Cedar Waxwings in the park
& i was also told that the Spotted Towhee has not been seen in a few days.
Near Amherstburg there was some Northern Shovelers out in the bay.
Suddenly they all took off and sure enough another Immature Bald was flying
over the bay. Unfortunately he did not stick around.
At Ojibway Park in Windsor at their bird feeder behind the nature centre
had a few surprises for me. Along with the many Goldfinches, Cardinals,
& Sparrows there were 2 Tufted Titmouse's, a male House Finch & a
Red-Bellied Woodpecker.
I would highly recommend to anybody if they are down near Windsor
to check out Ojibway Park. I am told it is excellent for Warblers also.
It should be great when spring truely gets here.
The birds did not come easy today but when they did it was a pleasure.
I will post a few pictures when i get back to my home computer.
Good Birding,
Murray
P.S. I hope this was not too long of a report?!!!
