Some one posted earlier about watching a nuthatch shunning seeds that it normally likes, for the prime nut.
Well i watched one of my males at the feeder doing that same thing about 2 weeks ago.
He did something very interesting with that (just perfect nut) he flew onto a branch and gave it to his or potential mate.
Then he would fly back and start to eat the other seeds and nuts, that just would not due on his previous visit.
As soon as the female was done eating, he would start sifting again and proceeded to repeat the ritual.
