wood duck

I don't want anyone to give away any top level secrets, but whereabouts in High Park are the wood ducks-I haven't been there many times but it's pretty large isn't it?

Hi Sue, the wood ducks are in Duck pond(fitting name) which is the pond close to where the petting zoo is ,you can find other species there as well including Hooded Mergansers. Duck pond is the smaller pond, Grenadier pond is much larger but not the pond where the wood ducks are but there are species there worth checking out.

Hi Mathew, the morning is definataly the best time , the first time I went in the afternoon and the pictures were mediocre, then the next day I went in morning and with the sun behind me it made a world of differance. your first shot with his reflection in the water is my favorite, I might head back this weekend and see if I can`t find a Heron hanging around.

Actually the Wood Ducks are in Grendier Pond I observed them today in the pond and in the trees, if you walk all the way down the trail past the big dock you will see more Wood Ducks in the marshland the path runs right along the shoreline!
