Looking at a few books I think this is a Golden-crowned kinglet and the second an Eastern Phoebe, they're a tiny bit different than my ref pics, can anyone confirm? The GK Kinglet had the yellow you can see but also a prominent strip of vibrant orange on his head.

Thx.

You're right on both.

Most of the flycatchers are difficult to ID strictly on plumage, but phoebes are the only ones you're likely to find this early in the spring.

These were both seen along the Lakeshore Lookout trail. The GC Kinglet was inland a bit from the shore hiding in some cedars. Pretty small little buggers and they move quick, I only managed a few shots. The phoebe was farther towards the highway along the fringe of some new evergreen tree plantings.

I was shooting butterflies(?) last week in Bestview Park (Bayview, Steeles area) when I spotted the GCK. I wasn't sure about it until I saw your post (very nice shot, btw) because I wasn't quick enough to get a shot. Cute bird, but like the chickadees they don't sit still for very long.
