I just saw two good looking male Common Mergansers pushing their way upstream on Lovers Creek in the south end of Barrie.
Gorgeous in the sunlight. The green heads are almost irridescent in the way they look almost ....well, black. : )
Without my binocs I thought they were the Goldeneyes coming back to our back area.
Wonderful. The brilliant and bright yellow of the Amercian male Goldfinch has just shown itself here for the first time this spring as well. Saw some immatures or females fleetingly back a month or so, but this is the first good sighting for me of a male. The fighting between the males should start soon.
