Birding Toronto to Sudbury
on:
April 15, 2009, 01:40:40 PM
I'm flying to Toronto next week, and have to drive from there to Sudbury. I don't know the area well. Any place along the way (or near Sudbury) I might want to go birding?
Thanks.

How far are you willing to go?
Manitoulin island is only 1.5 to 2hrs away, and you can arrange to go see a Sharp-tailed Grouse lek. Lots of Sandhill Cranes also.
There's also a few other spots sort-of along the way like Tiny Marsh, Minesing Swamp etc.
There's a new feature on the OFO site with birding hotspots and you can click on the link which will bring you to a birding site guide. Some are quite old, but much of the info is very good still.
The page is @

Thanks, I'll try to get to a couple of those sites. I will probably not have that much time, but if I finish my work early I'd be willing to take a detour.
