My first Hummingbird of the season arrived at my feeder today at 9.30am in the pouring rain. I've had my feeders out for about 3 weeks and this morning, I saw a brilliant oriole arrive at the feeder that was 'buzzed' about 5 seconds later by the hummer. He fed for about 10 seconds then left, just saw him back again about half an hour later, very exciting. I'm in the west end of Oakville, just north of the lake. Cool this morning, about 10 degrees. I have the bee guards on both feeders, I'll remove them from one so the orioles can feed, they were regulars last year.

Wonderful news!  I put my feeders out about the same time but no sightings of hummers yet - I did get one Oriole at the oriole feeder and oranges yesterday and today I have 3!  I am in oriole heaven - never had them here before, the 3 this morning are a family I believe. The male is very bright, the female a bit less and the baby (1st yr) is yellowish and black. Due to the stupid rain they are sitting on the grapevine up under the eaves on my back deck just outside our back door - and they are making soft chirpy noises to each other - so cute! They sure do love the cut oranges stuck in the grapevine.

I got some real closeup pics but none are real good, the rain and the grapevines hamper a clear shot. The RWBB and Cardinals do not like the Orioles!

You need to report your hummer sighting here: http://www.ontariohummingbirds.ca/
